Saint Priest Martyr Alexandru of Basarabia, during the Bolshevik occupation of Bessarabia, refused to submit to the atheistic regime. He continued to preach and minister to his flock, offering solace and maintaining their faith. Arrested for his unwavering dedication, he was subjected to torture and imprisonment. Before his execution, he blessed his captors and prayed for their salvation. His martyrdom strengthened the resolve of the remaining Christians in the region, who secretly kept his memory alive, awaiting the day of liberation and the open veneration of their steadfast pastor.
