Venerable Daniel the Hermit, in his youth, embraced monastic life at the Saint Nicholas Monastery near Rădăuți. Seeking deeper solitude, he retreated to a nearby forest, dwelling in a cave. Prince Stephen the Great, facing dire battles, sought Daniel's counsel. The Venerable encouraged him to fight valiantly for his land and faith, prophesying victory. After each battle, Stephen would visit Daniel to offer gratitude and seek guidance. The holy man urged him to build churches for every victory.
