In 16th-century Wallachia, John, a simple peasant, refused to convert to Islam under Ottoman rule. He was tortured cruelly. Despite the agony, he remained steadfast in his Christian faith, declaring his love for Christ. Finally, he was beheaded for refusing to deny his Lord.
