In 1330, in Cetatea Alba (present-day Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine), a merchant named John was confronted about his Christian faith by the city's governor. Despite torture, John refused to renounce Christ. He was dragged through the city streets tied to a horse, then beheaded. His body was burned, but his heart remained intact. Christians recovered his relics, which emitted a sweet fragrance and were deemed wonder-working.

Holy Martyr John, pray to #God for us, that we may have such strength and faith to stand for the truth! 🙏 #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Martyr #Prayer #Faith
