On July 18, we remember the Martyr Emilian of Durostorum.

Emilian, a Roman soldier during Julian the Apostate's reign, felt his heart burn with righteousness when he saw pagans persecuting Christians. One day, he boldly entered their temple and smashed their idols. Arrested and brought before the authorities, he refused to deny Christ. He was sentenced to be burned alive. As the flames consumed him, he remained steadfast, glorifying God until his last breath.
