St. Hermes, a Roman soldier, lived during the reign of Emperor Aurelian. A man of deep faith, Hermes was imprisoned for his Christian beliefs. Offered freedom if he renounced Christ, he refused. Miraculously, angels visited him in prison, healing his wounds. Hermes then converted two judges and 40 soldiers by a Divine miracle. Emperor Aurelian ordered Hermes' beheading, and he embraced martyrdom.
