Martyr John, a merchant, was betrayed by a jealous associate during a business trip. Dragged before the Turkish governor in Belgorod, he refused to deny his #Christian faith despite torture and promises. He was beaten, dragged behind a horse, and finally beheaded when he persistently confessed Christ. His relics, known for their fragrance and miraculous healings, are enshrined in Suceava, Romania.
