Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, reluctantly accepted the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the 14th century. Known for his strict asceticism and strong moral stance, he clashed with Emperor Andronicus II over the Emperor's personal life. Niphon rebuked him publicly, refusing communion until Andronicus repented of his sins. Despite imperial displeasure and exile, Niphon remained steadfast, eventually returning to Athos, where he reposed. May his unwavering devotion inspire us to stand firm in faith. Let us pray for his continued intercession in guiding leaders to righteousness.
