In the days when Goths dwelt near Buzău, Romania, Sava confessed Christ openly. Ordered to eat pagan sacrificial meat to prove loyalty to the Gothic king, he refused. "Whoever is like me a Christian, let him do as I do!" he declared. With fellow Christians, he was burned alive, choosing martyrdom over denying his faith.
