Joseph, born into a devout family in Ottoman-occupied Banat, felt a divine calling early in life. Despite his parents' wishes for him to marry, Joseph secretly fled to Partoș Monastery and became a monk. He was known for his exceptional humility and prayer, and for his dedication to serving the poor. Appointed Metropolitan of Timișoara, Joseph used his position to defend the Orthodox faith and care for his flock during a time of religious and political turmoil. After a life of selfless service, he reposed peacefully.
