Martyr John the New of Suceava, a merchant, was betrayed by a jealous competitor while traveling. Dragged before the Tartar governor, he refused to renounce Christ for earthly riches. Tortured brutally – beaten, flayed, and dragged through the streets – he remained steadfast in his faith, praying for his tormentors. Finally, he was beheaded. His relics, known for their fragrance and healing power, are venerated as a testament to unwavering faith.
