Venerable Dimitrie the New of Basarabi, a humble shepherd, lived a life of extreme piety in the 13th century near the Danube. He was known for his unwavering faith and kindness, spending his days in prayer and helping others. His life took a dramatic turn when, falsely accused and captured by Tatars, he was brutally martyred for his refusal to renounce Christ. His relics, miraculously preserved, became a source of healing and miracles, solidifying his place as a saint. Oh, Venerable Dimitrie, pray to God for us and intercede on our behalf, that we might find solace and strength in our trials.
