Venerable Onufrie of Vorona, born a peasant, felt a divine calling early in life. Leaving his village, he became a monk at Vorona Monastery. Known for extreme asceticism, he ate only dried bread and herbs. He dug his own cell into the earth and rarely left it, dedicating himself to unceasing prayer. Despite his desire for solitude, his holiness drew others seeking guidance. He healed the sick and comforted the suffering, becoming a beacon of light in a dark world.
