Saint Joseph, born in 1568 in Macedonia, was a monk of exceptional humility. Renowned for his wisdom, he was chosen as Metropolitan of Timișoara. Despite his high office, he continued to live a life of simplicity and devotion, known for his care for the poor and sick. His most notable act was during a severe plague. While others fled, Joseph remained, tending to the afflicted, offering comfort, and burying the dead. He eventually contracted the disease himself and peacefully passed away, a shepherd to his flock until the very end.

Lord, guide us by his example.
