Venerable Seraphim lived a life of extreme asceticism in the forests near Sâmbăta de Sus Monastery. He ate very little, wore simple clothes, and prayed constantly. One winter, he was found nearly frozen, but villagers who knew of his holiness warmed him and brought him back to the monastery. He continued his life of prayer and service until his peaceful death.
