Venerable George, born Gregory, was a shepherd who entered Cernica Monastery and became abbot. He emphasized strict monastic life, prayer, and obedience. Once, during a drought, he prayed fervently, and rain came, saving the crops. His wisdom and miracles drew many to monasticism.
