The Virgin Mary, betrothed to Joseph, was visited by the Archangel Gabriel, who announced she would conceive a son, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. Despite her virginity, she humbly accepted God's will, declaring herself the Lord's servant. She journeyed to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who recognized Mary as the mother of her Lord. Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem, and later presented him at the Temple in Jerusalem. She witnessed his ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection. After Jesus' ascension, she remained with the apostles, praying and awaiting the Holy Spirit.
