In Moesia, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, Saint Dassie, a Roman soldier, stood firm in his faith. When the time came for soldiers to celebrate the pagan festival of Saturnalia, Dassie refused to participate in the idolatrous rituals. Confronted, he confessed his belief in Christ. For his unwavering faith, he was condemned to death.
