Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution during Emperor Diocletian's reign for their unwavering Christian faith. Brought before Governor Fortunatianus, they refused to renounce Christ, enduring brutal tortures. Maxima bravely withstood the torment, encouraging her husband. Finally, they were drowned at Sirmium around the year 304.
