Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, refused to offer pagan sacrifice despite Emperor Maximian's orders. Facing threats, he confessed Christ openly. Thrown into prison, he converted many. Brought before the emperor again, he remained steadfast. After beatings, he was beheaded in 304 AD. His last words were of prayer for those who persecuted him, demonstrating unwavering faith and love.
