Calinic of Cernica, born in Bucharest, felt a calling early in life and entered Cernica Monastery at 20. His deep spirituality and administrative skills led him to become abbot, revitalizing the monastery. A prolific writer and translator of patristic texts, he enriched Romanian theological literature. Later, as Bishop of Râmnic, he focused on pastoral care and rebuilding churches. Let us pray that, through his example, all clergy may combine monastic dedication with active service to their communities and that his writings may continue to enlighten our understanding of God.
