Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian by birth, was Metropolitan of Wallachia in the early 18th century. A skilled calligrapher, linguist, and theologian, he established the first printing press in Bucharest and published numerous books in Romanian, Slavonic, and Greek. His efforts greatly advanced Romanian culture and literacy. Accused of treason due to his reformist views and political intrigues, he was exiled and murdered in 1716. May his prayers intercede for us, that we may be bold in truth and steadfast in faith.
