In the 4th century, during a time of persecution against Christians, Sava, a Goth living in Buzău, Romania, openly confessed his faith. When authorities demanded to know if there were any Christians among them, Sava bravely spoke out, declaring himself a Christian. He was mocked and tortured, yet remained steadfast. Dragged through thorny bushes and ultimately drowned in the Musæus River, Sava died for Christ. His courage inspired many to remain firm in their belief.

Holy Martyr Sava, intercede with Christ our God for us!
