St. Emilian, a brave soul during Julian the Apostate's reign, openly confessed his Christian faith, defying the emperor's pagan decrees. He fearlessly went into a pagan temple, and with a hammer, smashed the idols to dust. Arrested and tortured, he remained steadfast, proclaiming Christ as the only true God. He was sentenced to be burned alive. As the flames rose, Emilian offered his final prayer, and surrendered his soul to the Lord.
