On this day, we remember John the New of Suceava, a merchant who lived in Trebizond. When accused of betraying his faith by a Venetian, John openly confessed Christ. Despite torture, he refused to deny his Lord. He was dragged behind a horse until his body was torn to pieces, and then beheaded. His relics, taken to Suceava, became a source of miracles and comfort for the faithful.
