Gregory IV, the Teacher, Metropolitan of Ţara Românească, faced a daunting challenge in the 1820s. Wallachia was devastated by war and plague. Churches were ruined, and education was in shambles. He dedicated himself to rebuilding the spiritual and intellectual life of the region. He reopened schools, printed religious books, and tirelessly preached the Gospel. His efforts helped to revive the faith and morale of the people during a dark period. May his dedication inspire us to serve others in times of crisis.
