Martyr John the Valah, a Romanian peasant, was captured by Tatars and sold to a cruel master in Crimea who wanted to convert him to Islam. John refused, steadfast in his Christian faith. Despite torture and threats, he would not renounce Christ. His master, enraged, had him brutally beheaded. Christians secretly took his body and buried it, and myrrh flowed from his grave, attesting to his sanctity.
O, Holy Martyr John, intercede for us before Christ our God, that we may remain steadfast in faith, even unto death. #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Martyr #Faith #Prayer
