In Wallachia, John, a Romanian, refused to convert to Islam. Despite severe torture and imprisonment by the Ottomans, he held steadfast to his Christian faith. Offered wealth and high position, he rejected apostasy. Finally, he was beheaded in Constantinople on May 12, 1662, becoming a martyr for his unwavering devotion to Christ.
