Tradition tells that Andrew, the First-Called Apostle, preached the Gospel in Scythia, which encompasses present-day Romania. He is considered the patron saint of Romania. Legend says that while traveling, he planted a staff, and from it, a spring emerged, and his presence helped convert many to Christianity in the area. His mission helped lay the foundation of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
