Venerable #Paraschiva, born in Epivat, near Constantinople, lived a life of asceticism. As a young girl, upon hearing the Gospel read in church, she felt a deep call to abandon the world. She gave away her clothes to the poor, much to her parents' dismay, and eventually fled to a monastery near the Sea of Marmara. Later, she joined a convent in Heraclea, living a life of prayer, fasting and humility. She reposed at the age of 27. Her relics, known for their miraculous properties, are now in Iași, Romania.
