Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, during Emperor Maximian's reign, faced persecution for his unwavering faith. Brought before the authorities, he refused to offer pagan sacrifices. Despite pleas from his family and threats from the emperor, Irineu remained steadfast. He was beheaded for Christ.
