In Rome, during the reign of Emperor Antoninus, Hermes was a soldier who, secretly, was a Christian. Accused of treason for his faith, he refused to renounce Christ. He was tortured extensively, yet remained steadfast, converting even his torturers to Christianity by his faith. Eventually, he was beheaded for his beliefs.
