Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution during Diocletian's reign. Ordered to renounce their faith and sacrifice to idols, they refused steadfastly. First, they were tortured but remained unbroken. Seeing their resolve, the authorities drowned them in 304 AD. Their unwavering devotion inspired many to remain firm in their Christian belief.
