Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, fearlessly confessed Christ during the reign of Emperor Maximian. Brought before the authorities, he refused to offer pagan sacrifices. Despite pleas from his family and threats from the emperor, Irineu remained steadfast. He was repeatedly tortured, yet his faith never wavered. Finally, he was beheaded for his unwavering devotion.
