Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, was chosen as Patriarch of Constantinople, reluctantly accepting. His integrity led him to publicly rebuke Emperor Alexander for immorality during a Divine Liturgy, an act that led to his exile. Though briefly restored, his unwavering stance against corruption resulted in a final exile, where he served as Metropolitan of Ţara Românească, guiding the faithful until his death.
