Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a soldier, were imprisoned for their faith. During their torture in Singidunum (modern Belgrade), they were offered freedom if they renounced Christ, but they refused. Ermil encouraged Stratonic, who was wavering, with unwavering faith. They were subjected to terrible tortures, including being scourged and having sharp reeds driven under their fingernails. Finally, they were tied up and drowned in the river. They remained steadfast, praying for strength and salvation throughout their ordeal. Holy Martyrs Ermil and Stratonic, pray to God for us!
