Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, born into wealth, renounced his inheritance for monasticism in the 16th century. He retreated to a cave near the Iezeru River, dedicating himself to prayer and asceticism. Villagers sought his counsel, drawn to his wisdom and humility. Anthony rebuilt the dilapidated Iezeru Monastery, becoming its abbot and spiritual guide. His writings and teachings emphasized repentance and divine love.
