Venerable Sophian, a spiritual guide at Antim Monastery, exemplified profound humility. Once, a wealthy benefactor offered a large sum for a lavish icon. Sophian, recognizing the community's poverty, accepted it. But, instead of commissioning the icon, he used the money to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless, teaching that true icons are the living faces of Christ in those in need. Pray that through his intercessions, we may have the wisdom to prioritize love and compassion above all earthly treasures.
