Venerable Paraschiva, as a young girl, upon hearing the Gospel read in church, felt her heart ignite with divine love. She gave away her clothes to the poor. When her parents discovered this, sorrow filled their hearts, but Paraschiva remained steadfast. She secretly fled to Constantinople, entering a monastery and dedicating herself to a life of prayer and asceticism.
