Venerable Anthony of Iezeru Monastery, born in the late 16th century, abandoned a life of nobility to seek God in the wilderness. He found refuge in a cave near the Iezeru River, carving a small church into the rock. Enduring extreme poverty and battling temptations, Anthony dedicated his life to prayer and transcribing religious texts. His most notable work was a Romanian translation of the Psalms. He became a beacon of faith, attracting other monks and establishing the Iezeru Monastery, a center for spiritual learning.
