Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, was chosen as Patriarch of Constantinople. Known for his strict ascetic life and defense of Orthodox teachings, he faced opposition and was forced to resign several times. During his time as Metropolitan of Țara Românească, he reformed monastic life and supported the poor. Once, a wealthy nobleman offered him a large sum of money to bless an unjust cause, but Niphon refused, saying, "The blessings of the Church cannot be bought with gold." Let us pray that, inspired by #Niphon’s integrity, we also stand firm in truth and justice. #OrthodoxSaints #HolyFathers #RomanianOrthodox #ChristianVirtue #SpiritualGuidance
