Dassius, a Roman soldier during Emperor Diocletian's reign, was chosen by lot to play the King of Saturnalia, a pagan festival of revelry. But Dassius, a secret Christian, refused to wear the pagan attire, proclaiming he could not mock Christ. He threw off the garments and denounced the false idols. For his faith, Dassius was tortured and beheaded on the very day he was meant to lead the pagan rites.

Holy Martyr Dassius, pray that we may find the courage to stand firm in our faith, no matter the cost. May your example inspire us to live a life dedicated to Christ.
