Leontie, Bishop of Rădăuţi, stood firm against Austrian oppression in the 18th century. When authorities demanded the church replace Slavonic with Romanian in services to weaken ties with Wallachia and Moldavia, he refused. His defiance led to imprisonment in Galiția. He endured hardship, remaining steadfast, a beacon of faith and national identity.
