Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution under Emperor Diocletian. Ordered to renounce their faith and worship idols, they refused steadfastly. Despite torture, including being crushed by a press, they remained unbroken in spirit. Their unwavering devotion impressed even the pagan priest, who, witnessing their faith, converted to Christianity. Montanus and Maxima were ultimately beheaded for their allegiance to Christ.
