Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, refused to offer pagan sacrifice and openly confessed his faith in Christ before Emperor Probus. Despite pleas from his family, including his wife and children, he remained steadfast. Tortured and imprisoned, he was eventually beheaded in 304 AD for refusing to renounce Christ.
