During his time in communist Romania, Fr. Dumitru Stăniloae was imprisoned for his faith. Despite the harsh conditions and isolation, he translated the Philokalia into Romanian, a monumental work of spiritual writings. This act of defiance and devotion provided spiritual nourishment to many in secret, preserving Orthodox teachings during oppression.
