Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their Christian faith during the reign of Licinius. Ermil was tortured for refusing to offer pagan sacrifices. Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's suffering, revealing his faith. Both were then subjected to brutal tortures. They were eventually drowned in the Danube River for refusing to renounce Christ.
