St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, preached the Gospel far and wide, from the shores of the Black Sea to Greece. He established churches and converted many to Christianity. In Patras, he was crucified upon an X-shaped cross, as he deemed himself unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Christ. For two days, he preached from the cross, before giving up his spirit to God.
