In 1821, during the Wallachian uprising, Gregory IV faced immense pressure from both the revolutionaries and the Ottoman forces. Refusing to take sides and prioritizing the safety of his flock, he attempted to mediate peace. Despite his efforts, the situation escalated, leading to widespread violence. Gregory IV was arrested by the Ottomans, accused of supporting the rebellion, and ultimately executed without trial in Snagov Monastery. His death was seen as a martyrdom, symbolizing his dedication to his people and his unwavering faith amidst political turmoil.

Let us pray for #GregoryIV's intercession, that we may be granted the courage to uphold our faith in times of strife and to always seek peace and reconciliation. #OrthodoxChristian #Martyr #Faith #RomanianHistory #Prayer
