Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a guard, were martyred for their unwavering faith. Ermil was tortured for confessing Christ, while Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's suffering. Seeing this, Ermil declared Stratonic's faith. Both were then subjected to brutal torture. They were eventually drowned in the Danube River for refusing to renounce their belief in Christ.
